Chest girth is your most important measurement for a jersey β€” back length is secondary. Use a soft tape measure, wrap it around the widest part of your dog's chest just behind the front legs, then measure back length from base of neck to base of tail. When in doubt β€” size up.

Chest girth first. The jersey wraps the body β€” if the chest fits, the jersey fits.

Deep-chested breeds (Staffies, Bulldogs, Boxers) β€” chest girth always overrules weight. Long-bodied breeds (Dachshund, Corgi) β€” go by chest girth and accept the jersey will sit slightly shorter on the back.

Measurements are your dog's body β€” not the jersey. The jersey is cut shorter than your dog's back length to allow for natural movement and comfort. Ease is built into the chest fit.

Breed notes

Staffordshire Bull Terrier β€” size M. Stocky and deep-chested but a medium-sized dog under the muscle. Most adult Staffies are 13–17 kg with a chest girth of 50–60 cm. Measure chest first, ignore the impression of size.
French Bulldog (adult) β€” size M. Wide, deep chest relative to weight. Prioritise chest girth β€” your Frenchie may weigh under 10 kg but their chest will sit in the M range.
Husky β€” size L. Thick coat exaggerates apparent size. Measure chest girth under the coat and use that, not the visual.
Labrador and Golden Retriever β€” size L for most adults. Large males with chest girth above 75 cm should size up to XL.
Long-bodied breeds (Dachshund, Corgi, Basset Hound) β€” go by chest girth. The jersey will sit shorter on the back than the full spine length, which is correct for these breeds.
